Audit Log Reports issue in sharepoint 2010

When enabling audit log reports, there were a couple of issues faced, given below

1.       I could not find the Audit Log Reports link in Site Collection Administration.
Enabled it using stsadm as given in the below link

2.       When trying to generate audit reports or when trying to click Browse to select the location, I was getting an error "An unexpected error has occurred” with a correlation id.
a.       As mentioned in sites, I checked in ULS logs for the description – The ULS logs can be found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS
b.      There was an exception related to Search
c.       Checked the Search Service, it was enabled. But the search did not work in the site. So deleted and enabled Search service in central admin.(refer mail in team repository)
d.      Search was tested in site and it  is working.
e.      The unexpected error kept coming still. So checked the ULS log again.
f.        In ULS log check for the correlation id and got a description “ tkau             Unexpected                System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.    at Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Internal.WebControls.ObjectSerializer.evaluateTestAutomationId(CachedList cachedListToEval)     at Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Internal.WebControls.ObjectSerializer.get_AutomationId()     at Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Internal.WebControls.EcbEnabledTreeNode.RenderPreText(HtmlTextWriter writer)     at System.Web.UI.WebControls.TreeNode.Render(HtmlTextWriter writer, Int32 position, Boolean[] isLast, Boolean enabled)     at System.Web.UI.WebControls.TreeNode.RenderChildNodes(HtmlTextWriter writer, Int32 depth, Boolean[] isLast, Boolean enabled)     at System.Web.UI.WebControls.TreeNode.Render(HtmlTextWriter writer, Int32 position, Boolean[] isLast, Boolean enable...       2ce915c9-318c-4d5c-ada5-104056c1b48e”
g.       As per the sites referred, first checked if Reporting feature is enabled in the site collection. It was enabled. So disabled, iisreset and enabled it. Did not work
h.      One other site mentioned it for Publishing feature, did the above steps- did not work
i.         Disabled and enabled most of the important features already enabled in the site. It did not make any difference. (Link refered http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ar/sharepoint2010setup/thread/419fd9e7-d548-4420-add4-3707db84e61f)
j.        Then as given in this site, using powershell got the Id’s of list in the main site. Then checked which list is creating an issue. Found that there was a list BugsTest which was the culprit. Removed it as per the link. Issue resolved!! (Link Refered - http://www.tylercranston.com/2011/11/cqwp-and-manage-content-and-structure.html)
